She's Here!

That's right! Last night after Kim updated the blog, she started having contractions, and after a couple hours of indecisiveness, she woke me up at 3:00 to take her to the hospital. Kim progressed pretty quickly, and had a fairly quick and painless (easy for me to say!) delivery. Here are a few pictures of Drew:

Drew weighs 7lbs, 5 oz. and is 19 in. long
Addison has already taken to the big sister role and loves her baby sis.
Doesn't she look a lot like Addison when she was born?! I will have to look at some pictures and will post some comparison pictures in the next few days.

Our first new family pic.
Kim and the baby are doing really well, and we hope to have them home soon. Thank you for everyone's support during this exciting time for us. I expect Kim to be back to her blogging self very soon.

It's Time For An Update

Wow, where has this month of August gone? I swear August has just flown by. Well I thought I should do an update of what we have been up to. Really, we haven't done too much, just watching the Olympics and trying to get ready for the new baby. Tim and I are the worst procrastinators. We figured that since the baby will be here in less than two weeks that we should start putting the room together(I know we are really awful). So this last weekend we finally put the baby's room together and it's pretty much ready. (I will post some pictures of the room soon.)

Well here are a few things that have happened this month:

Tim and I both had our 10 year High School reunions this month. My reunion was on Friday August 1st at Wheeler Farm. Tim's was Saturday August 2nd, up in Tremonton at Marble Park. At first Tim and I weren't sure how we felt about going to our reunions. I mean I was 35 weeks pregnant and all, but I am really glad that we decided to go. It was a lot of fun catching up and visiting with old friends, and meeting some of Tim's friends that he went to school with. We forgot the camera so I had to steal some pics off of my friend's blog. (thanks Michelle)

I also turned 28 on 08.08.08, tell me that isn't the coolest birthday ever. I had a great birthday, we celebrated the Sunday before with Tim's family and then on the 7th we celebrated with my family. Sorry no pics, we forgot the camera again. Tim took me out to dinner on my birthday and made it a really fun day for me. Thanks for all the emails, texts, and phone calls.

So really, this month has mostly consisted of trying to get ready for the baby. It has come so fast and we are so excited for our new little girl's arrival. As for an update on my pregnancy. I am still feeling pretty good. I just had my weekly doctors appointment and I'm dilated to a 3+. My doctor doesn't think I will make it to my induction date which was set for the 5th of September. So really the baby could be here any day. We will keep you all posted.

Go Marlon!

With the Paralympics just over a week away, we thought that this would be a good time to do a post on Tim's brother Marlon. For those of you who don't know much about him, Marlon is the world's fastest amputee athlete. He holds the world record in the 100 meter dash, and he's the defending gold medalist from the past 2 Paralympics. Among the various awards that he has won, he is a 2 time winner of the ESPY award for best disabled athlete. He lives in San Diego, where he trains at the Olympic Training Center, and he's now in Japan getting accustomed to the time change before heading over to Beijing next week for the start of the Paralympics. Marlon's life has been one of great adversity. Yet despite this adversity, Marlon has been able to achieve greatness both on and off the track. He has started a charitable foundation where he mentors under privileged children, and spends a lot of time speaking to various companies and groups, where he draws on his experiences as an orphan and amputee to inspire others. You can learn a lot more about him by going to his website or any other of the following links:

Marlon is documenting his activities and thoughts on his website blog (http://www.marlonshirley.com)./ . On his blog, he has written a letter that explains some of the difficulties that he has experienced this past year, and it will give you a greater understanding and appreciation for what he has gone through to just make it to Beijing, and I really encourage you to read it (from the homepage, select Blog, and read "Letter to all My Friends"). If there is one overwhelming theme is the story of Marlon's life, it is overcoming adversity, and making the best of bad situations. This year has been no exception to that, and once again, we are proud of the way that Marlon has rebounded and responded to this adversity, and we hope and pray that he's able to perform well. For any of you who would like to wish him well, you can leave comments on his blog from his website, and I'm sure that he would appreciate the encouragement.

From what I know, http://www.universalsports.com/ will broadcast the Paralympics, and there will also some recaps/specials on TV afterwards. When we find out what, and when those are, we will pass that along.

Go Marlon!

Coronado

**For all of you sick of reading about our vacation to San Diego, I promise this is my last post.**

We went over to Coronado the last two days of our vacation. We surprisingly hadn't been to the beach all week. Thursday we went with Tim's mom, his Aunt Cheryl, Shirley, Mary, and Hudson. We thought it would fun to come back on Friday with everyone else to let the kids play in the ocean.

Mary and Marlene

We had such a wonderful time in San Diego with all of Tim's family. We really enjoyed all the time we were able to spend with each other and we have made some wonderful memories. It was also nice to be able to all go on one big vacation before Mary left for St. Louis.

Angels Game, Old Town, and Coronado

While in San Diego, the guys had the chance to go up to Anaheim to catch an Angels game. Tim's Uncle Val was able to get some good tickets for everyone, and Tim said that they had a really fun time.

Tim really enjoys taking pictures at sporting events, especially shots like this of the stadiums. He left his seat during one of the innings, and walked up to the upper deck, and found the perfect seat to take this picture.

Marlon, Tim, and Kerry

The guys hanging out, taking in some rays before the game.

While the guys were at the game, the girls decided to go to Old Town, San Diego. It was quite the adventure getting down there. Keri Beth and I didn't put our names down to drive the rental cars, because at the time we didn't think we were really going to need to drive. Most of us squeezed into Tim's grandpa's van that we had borrowed that week, while Keri Beth and my mother-in-law, Marlene, drove Marlon's Jeep. Luckily, we didn't have to drive too far. We just drove down to the shuttle that took us straight to Old Town. Again it was quite comical watching us try to get on and get off that shuttle with three strollers and three kids.

Later that night once the guys got back from the game and some major race car driving, Tim and I decided to drive over to Coronado so Tim could take some night shots of downtown. Here are a few of the shots he took.

Sea World

The whole family thought it would be fun to go to Sea World, especially for the kids. This was Tim's and Addison's first visit to Sea World. It was a long day, but Addison did great. She loved watching all the shows.

Our favorite show, of course, was Shamu. We did however really like the dolphin show too.

Tim took this picture, which I thought was really cute. We actually don't know the little boy. We wanted to get a picture like this of Addison, but as you can see from the picture below we didn't want one that bad to wake her up from her nap.

Addison finally gave in and took a nap in her stroller.

Addison with her new friend Ava.

We ended up staying later than we thought we would. Here is a picture of Addison and me at the night dolphin show.
