Homebound...

. . .that's what we've been since Christmas. Since Addison was sick we have been staying inside to make sure she gets sleep and feels better. I started to feel a little sick Wednesday night, luckily I never threw up. So since Tim knew I hadn't felt to great Wednesday night, he decided to sleep on the couch because it's a really busy time for him at work, and he didn't want to risk getting sick. Well Thursday morning Tim woke up heading for the bathroom to throw up. (so much for sleeping on the couch!) He stayed home the first part of the morning and he thought he felt a little better and felt like he needed to try and head into work. I called my parents to see how they were feeling and sure enough, they were down with the flu too, and my mom told me that JJ (my nephew who they watch) was throwing up. I called my grandma and she was sick and told me that my cousin, her dad, her husband and her son were all sick. I felt terrible! At the time (Christmas morning) I didn't realize exactly what Addison had. I feel so careless about taking Addison to my parents house Christmas day. It really is so awful! The only good thing was that it only lasted 24 hours, but still it's no fun being sick. So we have been staying home and cleaning and disinfecting our house and Addison's toys. Addison is doing great and we are pretty sure she isn't contagious anymore. We finally got out Saturday and went to Church today. We are happy to be healthy and feeling good for the New Year.

Our Crazy Christmas

Christmas Eve we headed up to Tremonton to spend the night with Tim's family. Tim's mom made, yet again, another delicious dinner. We participated in the Christmas tradition program, played a little scrabble, watched football, played Playstation 3, and just enjoyed each other's company.

Well here is where the fun starts(sarcastically speaking). Tim and I didn't end up going to bed until about 2:30 am (Tim was playing PlayStation 3 with Marlon, while I was helping with some last minute Christmas preparations). Around 3:00 am we heard Addison crying. Tim went in to get her, and then told me he needed my help. Addison had thrown up all over herself and the crib. We took her out and put her in the bathtub. I felt so bad for her, her little stomach would start to contract and then she would start to dry heave and then throw up and then start to cry. (This probably continued for a good three hours.) Poor little thing, all she wanted was for me to hold her and comfort her all night. I told Tim to go back to bed because both of us didn't need to be up, and well, I knew that I could just sleep on the drive back to Salt Lake. I ended up holding her the rest of the morning and letting her fall asleep on me. After she woke up we gave her a little apple juice to see if she could keep it down, luckily she did. Well that Christmas morning we opened presents packed up and headed to my parents. After the awful commute back to Salt Lake, we finally arrived at my parents for a nice Christmas breakfast. Every Christmas morning my mom's whole extended side of the family comes over to enjoy a Christmas breakfast and then we all exchange gifts. Addison was such a trooper, you wouldn't even guess that she was so sick, she was very happy and having lots of fun opening presents. I was super surprised at how much interest Addison had at opening presents this year. Other than Addison being sick, we had a wonderful Christmas and this one will be quite memorable. Addison was definitely spoiled by everyone this year and we are very thankful to have so much family that live so close to spend Christmas with.

Funniest quote from Christmas Eve:

Maddison(Addison's cousin): Can Addison say her name yet?
Kim: No, not yet
Maddison: Because if she could say "Addison", she could probably say "Maddison".

Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Happy Birthday Grandma and Kagan!!

Today is my Grandma Glenn's and my cousin, Kagan's, Birthday. I know, I know everyone thinks their grandmas are the sweetest ladies alive, which I don't doubt for one minute is true. I have to say though, I too think my Grandma is one of the sweetest ladies around. I just love her so much and am so thankful for all the joy and happiness she brings to our whole extended family.

Every year at my Grandma's birthday party Santa always comes to visit all the kids.

Here is last years picture of Addison and Santa.

And here is this years picture.

I just have to laugh at this picture. I mean seriously, isn't this the token Santa picture?! I do have add that it was past her bedtime, but honestly I didn't expect anything different and I would have been shocked if it had been any other way.

Temple Square

Friday night Tim's parents came down to Salt Lake and took us out to dinner. After dinner we headed over to see the lights at Temple Square. I always enjoy seeing the lights at Temple Square. This year we decided with it being so cold outside that it would be best to keep Addison home with a babysitter. We were sad she wasn't there with us but we knew she was in good hands with our cute neighbor, Kaya.

Thanks for the fun Friday night out!!

Write It Down...

I'm not sure if you call this a miracle or a fluke, but last week I thought I would try and have Addison wear her beanie while we were out running errands. I honestly thought there was no way she was going to keep it on. I put her beanie on her head, put her in her car seat and we were off. I thought by the time we got to the store she would for sure have taken it off. Nope, I was wrong, she was still wearing it. Addison wore it all throughout the store and all the way home. I took it off when I put her down for a nap. When she woke up I put it back on her to see if she would continue to wear it. Sure enough, she did. I thought this was a pretty big deal since she rarely ever keeps on a beanie, hair clip, or a bow for more than a few minutes. Sometimes Tim and I will even trick her by pinching her hair to make it seem like there is a clip in and she will immediately touch her head as if she is trying to take the clip out.

I just love my little girl to death!!

While I was trying to take some pictures of Addison in her beanie, she of course, didn't want to stay still. I sat her down to take a picture and she would immediately start to crawl away. She went into the laundry room stood up and walked over to the door to try and shut the door on me. (I know, if that wasn't her way of telling me to stop trying to take her picture.) After she attempted to do this again, I said to her, "Hey Addie, that's not very nice to shut the door on Mommy." She thought she was so funny, she would just laugh. She also thought it was funny to keep peeking her face around the door to see if I was still there. She was making me laugh so hard. It was so adorable, she would peek her head around the side of the door, smile and then pull her head back and just giggle. What a silly girl!

Tim is Hilarious!

Tonight I was on the computer working on a post and Tim comes in from the Bedroom to tell me the power went out. Well the power can't be out since I am on the computer and the light is on in the computer room as well. I then tell him that he must have blown a fuse. He then asks me if I can go and fix it since he hasn't ever fixed it in this house before. I first think he is totally joking around pretending he doesn't know how to fix it because he doesn't want to have to go down to the basement. He then tells me he is serious. Next thing I know he is telling me to come with him to the basement. I then tell him that I will just go downstairs and fix it. Well this was his response, "Well I better come down with you so I can see how to do it in case you aren't home and it happens again." I seriously started to laugh so hard. I totally thought he was joking, but he wasn't. Isn't Tim so great!?! It's times like this that make me love Tim even more.

The Wright Family Christmas Party

Sunday we went to the Wright Family Christmas Party. Besides weddings, baby blessings and baptisms, the Wrights all get together for three holidays Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is always so much fun getting together with my Dad's extended side of the family. Growing up family parties were always a lot of fun, mostly because I had a lot of cousins my age. There are now more than 60+ people in the Wright family, and it is sure loud and crazy when we are all together. We had so much fun and Addie made it all the way until 2:30 with no nap. As soon as we put her into the car she was out. She must have partied to hard because she was asleep until 5:30. We were sad that everyone couldn't make it this year, and we sure missed them. Hopefully we will all be able to get together at Easter.

I thought these pictures where so cute of my dad and Addie.
I think it is so funny how they have the same expression in the first picture
and then how they are both cheesin' it in the second picture.

The Nogger

Where do I begin . . . Saturday we went to the The Nogger, it is the ultimate Christmas Party. Our friends started this fun little tradition 4 years ago, and this was our 3rd year attending this fabulous party. Everyone gets dressed in their "Holiday Best", we have dinner, a white elephant exchange and do some mingling while drinking a little egg nog, hence the name, "The Nogger". Now when I say our Holiday Best please don't get that confused with our nicest formal wear. We all search high and low to find the sweetest Christmas Sweaters/attire to sport around that evening. Luckily for Tim and I, Debby had some awesome extra pieces of clothing for us to wear that night.

Check us out, we all look pretty HOT!!

My Little Helper

Silly Addie!

One morning last week, I went and put Addison down for a nap. A few minutes later I peeked in her room to see if she was asleep and this is how I found her. (I guess she wasn't quite ready for a nap yet.) It was so funny she was just chillin' not fussing or anything. So of course I went in took some pictures, and then put her down again. She then went right to sleep.

Soup Recipe Anyone???

My neighbor brought Tim and me dinner after Addison was born. She made this delicious soup that instantly became one of our favorites. During cold times like this, soup always sounds good. I thought it would be nice to share this yummy recipe. I hope you enjoy it.

What you need:
2 c. medium zucchini, diced
2 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. dried basil
1 small onion, chopped
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 c. water
3 chicken bullion cubes
1 can evaporated milk
3 med. tomatoes diced
1 (14-oz.) can diced tomatoes with juice
1 (10- oz.) pkg frozen corn
2 c. shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/4 c Parmesan cheese

Saute zucchini, parsley, basil, and onion in butter until tender. Add the flour, salt and pepper, and mix well. Add the water and bullion cubes. Bring to a boil. Add evaporated milk and tomatoes. Reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes. Add corn, cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese. Heat until cheese is melted.

Serve and Enjoy.

Festival of Trees

On Saturday, Dec. 1st I went with my mom, my grandma, my aunt, and of course Addison to the Festival of Trees. This was Addison's first year going. Every year for as long as I can remember I have attended the Festival of Trees with my mom and my grandma. I even remember going to it when it was at the Salt Palace. (wow if that isn't a blast from the past)

I love going and seeing all the beautiful and uniquely decorated trees. I also love going because it is so neat to know that so many people spend so much time and give so much to help the Primary Children's Medical Center. All the proceeds are given to provide medical care for needy children at Primary Children's. I was reading online at the Festival of trees website and found these fun facts that I wanted to share. The Festival of Trees was inspired 37 yrs ago. The first year they had 60 trees and raised $47,ooo. Now they have over 700 trees, not to mention all the other things now like wreaths, centerpieces, gingerbread houses and much more. Last year they raised a total of $1,567,525.80. (WOW that is amazing!) I would love to get involved more next year, not the usual money spent for the ticket and the money spent at the sweet shop. So if any of you want to get together next year and donate and decorate a tree let me know.

Here are a few pictures that I took.

This was the upside down tree.

I took a picture of this tree for Addison. She sure loves her bears!

I think this might be my favorite part of the Festival of Trees. I just love looking at all the Gingerbread houses, I love all the detail. I am definitely excited to decorate a gingerbread house this year, although mine won't be nearly as extravagant as the houses below. I mean seriously they are incredible.

I had so much fun going to the Festival of Trees with my mom, my grandma, and my aunt. It is such a fun tradition that I always look forward to doing every year. I am glad that Addison can now be apart of this Christmas Tradition. Here is one worn out little girl, Isn't she so sweet?!

Addison's First Steps

Addison took her first real steps on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the dentist office. Tim and I were at the dentist for a cleaning, and when I came back to the waiting area after having my teeth cleaned, Tim told me Addison took four steps. I didn't believe him at first, and then he told me to stand there to see if Addison would walk to me. Sure enough she took three little steps to me.

Addison is one funny gal. For the longest time Addison wouldn't ever stand up and walk with me. Honestly she wanted nothing to do with walking, anytime I would try to have her stand up and hold my hands she would just buckle down and then crawl away. Well since the beginning of November she has started to show more interest in walking, actually she prefers it. I guess I should say she now enjoys walking with a little assistance from me or Tim. Each day it seems she gets a little more confidence. On Friday, when Tim got home from work he was having her try and walk from couch to couch. After she did that a few times he had her stand a little further away to walk towards the couch to pick up her bear. Next thing we know, one step turns to two and two turns to four.

Here is a little video we took of Addison taking some little steps on Friday. We are so proud of her and enjoy seeing her work at this new milestone. She is still a little wobbly, but I'm sure she'll have it down in no time.
